Terms of Use

Access to Massachusetts Residents Directory is subject to these terms. By continuing to use the reference, you agree to follow them; stop using it if you do not accept them.

1. What This Website Is

Massachusetts Residents Directory is privately run. It describes public rolls, record indexes, and historical directories, then links readers to the offices that hold them. No government record is hosted here, and this service is independent of every agency, court, and custodian it discusses.

2. Rules for Using This Site

Use the reference only in a lawful way. You may not use it or information reached through it to:

  • Stalk, threaten, intimidate, harass, or injure another person
  • Find a person who is protected by a court order
  • Carry out identity fraud or theft
  • Make a decision regulated by the FCRA, including credit, employment, tenant, or insurance decisions
  • Collect and republish large amounts of this reference’s text or data
  • Disrupt the service or try to defeat its security

3. No Consumer Reports

Massachusetts Residents Directory is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (15 U.S.C. § 1681 et seq.). Neither its content nor results from a linked search tool are consumer reports, and they may not be used to decide eligibility for credit, employment, housing, insurance, or another FCRA-covered purpose.

4. Links to Outside Sites

Government records sites and other linked services set their own terms. We do not control their pages, uptime, fees, or handling of information entered there.

5. No Warranties

The reference is supplied on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties. We make no promise that its material is complete or current, or that an outside portal will function or return an accurate result.

6. Limits on Our Liability

As far as applicable law permits, the site operators are not liable for direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or special loss connected to use of this reference or an external resource, including an action based on a record found through it.

7. Indemnification

If your misuse of the service or breach of these terms causes a claim, you agree to protect the operators against that claim and related demands, including reasonable attorneys’ fees.

8. Intellectual Property

Copyright protects the site’s original writing, visual design, logo, and layout. You may link to a page or quote a short passage with credit. Copying full pages or reproducing the material in bulk is not permitted.

9. Changes to These Terms

These terms can change when an updated version is posted. Use of the reference after that date counts as acceptance of the revision.

10. Restricting Access

Access may be blocked or limited if someone breaks these terms or misuses the service. That decision may be made without advance notice.

11. Governing Law

Massachusetts law governs these terms, without applying its conflict-of-law rules. Public records held by Massachusetts agencies are governed by Massachusetts Public Records Law, M.G.L. c. 66, § 10; the public-record definition and exemptions are in M.G.L. c. 4, § 7(26), with access regulations at 950 CMR 32.00.

12. Severability

If a court finds one provision unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply.

13. Questions

Questions about a Massachusetts public record belong with the custodian that holds it. The Contact page identifies the relevant office and request route; those offices do not administer this private reference or these terms.
