Information You Submit
Names, phone numbers, or addresses entered into a search box are sent to the outside provider that returns the results. The reference itself does not store those searches. If you send a message, we receive the details you choose to include and use them to answer you.
Basic Technical Logs
The hosting service may record an IP address, browser type, page request, and time stamp in routine server logs. We use aggregate counts to maintain the pages and learn which topics are visited. Cookies or similar tools may support simple analytics and, when used, ad measurement.
How Information Is Used
Technical data helps run the service, find errors, count visits, and improve the reference. We do not sell a list of visitors or assemble a profile for each reader.
Outside Services and Links
Links lead to Massachusetts state and municipal record offices, libraries, archives, and outside search tools. Each destination sets its own privacy terms. Sponsored results are supplied by a separate provider, whose policy applies to information entered there.
Service Providers and Disclosure
Hosting companies and other vendors that keep the pages running may handle routine server logs. Analytics or advertising partners may receive the technical information described above. We disclose information when valid legal process requires it.
Safeguards and Retention
Connections to the site use encryption, and logs should be kept only while they serve the purposes in this policy. There are no reader accounts, passwords, or personal profiles stored here.
Children and Teen Users
This reference is written for adults and does not knowingly collect details from anyone under 18. If a child enters information in an outside search box, that provider operates the tool and sets its own data-handling rules. A parent or guardian should follow the provider’s privacy notice for questions about search data.
Requests About Your Information
Massachusetts research identifies 201 CMR 17.00 as a safeguard standard for certain personal information held by organizations; it is not a general website access, correction, or deletion procedure. The state public-record law is M.G.L. c. 66, § 10, with the public-record definition and exemptions in M.G.L. c. 4, § 7(26). Those rules govern records held by public agencies, not copies maintained by this reference. For information entered in an outside search box, follow the provider’s privacy notice and request process. A government record must be corrected through the custodian that created or maintains it; a request to this site cannot change the official record.
Policy Changes
Revisions will appear here with the new policy text. Continued use after an update is posted indicates acceptance of the revised terms.
